About Dhanteras
Dhanteras (Dhantrayodashi) is the first day of the five-day Diwali festival, on Krishna Trayodashi of Ashwin (amanta). Lakshmi, Kubera and Dhanvantari, the god of health, are worshipped in Pradosh Kaal after sunset.
Buying gold, silver, utensils or new items is considered auspicious, and a lamp is lit for Yama (Yama Deepam) at the entrance in the evening.
