About Hanuman Jayanti
Hanuman Jayanti is observed on the full moon of Chaitra in most of North India, and at other times of the year in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. It honours Hanuman as the symbol of strength, devotion and selfless service.
Temples hold early morning abhishek, devotees recite the Hanuman Chalisa and offer sindoor, red flowers and boondi or laddoo.
How it is observed
- Hanuman Chalisa or Sundara Kanda path.
- Sindoor, jasmine oil and red flowers offered to Hanuman.
- Visiting a Hanuman temple, often on a Tuesday or Saturday in the same week.
- Charity of food.
