About Buddha Purnima
Buddha Purnima (Vesak) falls on the full moon of Vaisakha and commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing of Gautama Buddha. In the Hindu calendar it is also a Purnima snan and charity day, and Buddha is regarded as an avatar of Vishnu in some traditions.
Buddhists visit viharas, offer flowers, light lamps and listen to teachings; many take a holy dip and give to the poor.
