About Holi (Rangwali Holi)

Holi, the festival of colours, falls the day after Holika Dahan, on the Pratipada after Phalguna Purnima. People play with coloured powder and water, share sweets such as gujiya and forgive old quarrels.

Barsana, Mathura and Vrindavan celebrate for a week or more, with Lathmar Holi.

How it is observed

Dates follow the Hindu lunar calendar (tithi) as seen from Delhi and can differ by a day between regions and panchangs. Computed from NASA JPL DE421 Sun and Moon positions. Confirm with your local temple or priest for religious observances.
