About Hariyali Teej
Hariyali Teej falls on Shravana Shukla Tritiya and celebrates the union of Shiva and Parvati and the greenery of the monsoon. Women, especially in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana, fast, sing folk songs and swing on decorated jhoolas.
Green clothes and bangles and mehndi are part of the festival, and mothers often send sindhara (gifts) to married daughters.
