Govardhan Puja and Annakut are on Tuesday 10 November 2026, the day after the Amavasya, remembering Krishna lifting Govardhan hill.

Govardhan Puja is celebrated on Kartik Shukla Pratipada. It recalls the story of Krishna lifting Govardhan hill to shelter the villagers of Vrindavan from Indra's storm. Devotees prepare a mountain of food (Annakut) and offer it to the deity, and make a Govardhan figure of cow dung.

In Gujarat and parts of western India, the same day is the New Year (Bestu Varas).
