Kartik Purnima is the full moon of the month of Kartik and one of the holiest days of the year. Devotees take a holy dip in the Ganga and other rivers and light lamps. In Varanasi it is celebrated as Dev Diwali, when the ghats are lit with lakhs of diyas. Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti on the same day.
